The Diplomat: Chinese Navy Drone Spotted

The Chinese Navy’s annual sortie through the disputed waters between the Japanese islands Okinawa and Miyakojima held a surprise for foreign observers. Japanese forces tailing the 11-strong Chinese fleet spotted a previously unknown Chinese weapon system: a small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, apparently launched from the deck of a Chinese warship.

Axeghanistan ’10: Scan Eagles over Bagram Video

The U.S. Air Force is assuming more and more responsibility for securing the city of Bagram, where NATO has its biggest and most important facility in Afghanistan. To boost surveillance over the city, in September the Air Force contracted drone-maker Insitu to provide Scan Eagle robots. An Air Force analyst joined the Insitu team to study the video feeds and pass them along to local Air Force and Army units.
