The Marine Corps’ latest pick for the $20-billion Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected program to protect U.S. troops from roadside bombs is the Australian Bushmaster. The Aussies have ridden their Bushmasters in East Timor and now in Afghanistan’s Uruzgan province. The Dutch troops at the same base were so impressed that they spent 25 million Euros of their tiny defense budget to buy 25 of their own.
8/9/07: This just in: the Bushmaster order is just a rumor, according to Defense Industry Daily. Seems Defense News got its facts wrong.
