British forces completed their withdrawal from southern Iraq this spring, leaving just a small headquarters contingent in Baghdad, plus a team in the port of Umm Qasr, tasked with training up the small Iraqi navy, pictured. Now it appears the Iraqi government has declined to renew the agreement allowing the Brits to keep even these few forces in the country. Richard North at Defence of the Realm has more:
Behind the scenes, British officials have been working flat out to reach a successful resolution, deemed essential for Britain to retain even the last vestiges of “face.” But [Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al] Maliki, still deeply resentful at the way the British walked away from confronting the militias in southern Iraq, was having none of it.

Perhaps the sheite insurgents are wolfs in lambs clothing…
If this is the case, then why fund em a navy & train them. It saves all of us a boatload of money…
Okay I am going to say it. England needs to start deporting insurgents asap to counter retribution efforts. This is half of the problem here with the global insurgency. We all know it.
Time to hit the back 9 and toss a few back?
Iran will keep funding the communist weapons indefinitely and naval presence as well. At a certain point they will bee buddy buddy and not try to overthow iraqi ports as we had guessed, but are planning to push out the western invaders, their real common goals and agendas. The sheite sare tight like that behind closed doors.
The above comment is gibberish.
